AAArrrr that's good bagel

Aaaarrr me mates! I've been enjoying the "great outdoors" with the little first mate.
We went to our first swimming lesson yesterday. The little first mate did very well, except when he was in the life jacket which was too big for him and he looked like a kid stuffed into a snowsuit.
I'm glad this winter is almost over, it gets lonely on the high seas when you don't see any other ships around. In the warm weather, more pirates are about, and it makes you feel more a part of a bigger picture. Its amazing how many people are out and about at 1:00 in the afternoon...I thought everyone would be working.

Exciting News From a Crew Member

One of me mates recently told me that his fiance is expecting. I am so excited for the two of them. It couldn't happen to better crew mates, and I know they will make wonderful parents for their little first mate.
Hearing the news made me think about me little first mate and the first time I got to see him (not in person).
I was in awe that this little "soon-to-be crew member" was inside me and I loved watching him move and breathe. Seeing his heart beat was amazing.
I miss the feeling of having (what at times feels like) a little fish swimming around inside.
I am in no rush because I am greatly enjoying my little first mate and want to devote as much one-on-one time with him as possible, but someday I'd like to expand the crew and really try to record and memorize every moment of it all.
Having your own crew is a lot of fun, a lot of work, but a lot of fun.

"Pirate Girl - you have the best dreams"

Nights on a pirate ship can be exciting, especially when the little first mate sleeps a while allowing me brain to have some fun. The other night I dreamt that I gave birth to three turtles and I said "no wonder they thought that the babies would have clubbed feet - they're turtles". For the rest of the dream I was angry that I had "turtle babies" and not real babies.
Last night I dreamt that I had to go to a new high school for my last semester of OAC. I was auditioning for the school play (which was Grease???) and when I left the school I was wearing a formal dress with a fur wrap. Then my drama teacher (in the dream) followed me home where I lived with my husband and my son. WEIRD!
Sometimes I'm glad that real life isn't as exciting as my dreams, but it would make life a lot more interesting.

Scrub the decks...errr. the basement

Today the big first mate and I cleaned our basement. It really needed it. There is a certain satisfaction in cleaning something that is extemely dirty. You can really see the difference. It felt so good to get all gross while cleaning. There was dust and dirt and kitty litter in the air, and you felt so gross doing it, but the results were fab. I love getting stuff done.

Arg, that's good entertainment

During times when there is just miles and miles of sea, and the silence is not welcome, Pirate Girl can always turn to "Scrubs", an excellent t.v show which in someways inspired the creation of Pirate Girl. The first episode of "Scrubs" that I ever saw was of D.J pretending to be a pirate in his head while he was performing his doctor duties. Often when I get bored at my usual day job, I pretend to be a pirate in my head. I'd imagine things like "boy, I'd sure like to make that student scrub the deck". Or sometimes I just have a running narration in my head...is the weird?

Tasty dishes on the high seas

Arg, me big first mate and I are worried about the amount in our booty account, so we no longer go out for dinner or order in for our date nights, so instead we have decided to make our own delicious treats. Me favorite so far is "Chicken Pad Thai". Ours doesn't look as fancy as the photo, but it is delicious.
I enjoy "cooking date nights" with my big first mate. We talk while we cook and try to interpret what the recipe is asking for and we seem to have a lot of fun. Also we don't need a baby sitter for the little first mate :)
This Friday we're making chicken stir fry with the noddles we use in pad thai (since we have them on the ship). Hooks crossed that it will work.

Park Ahoy

Recently, my little first mate and I set sail for a local park. It was a fine day on the high seas when we stopped for a quick swing. This being my little mate's maiden "attempt" on a swing he giggled and greatly enjoyed the other kids in the park. It was a fine day for the two of us.

Sailing Soundtrack

Aaaarrrrrr, somebody gi'e James Blunt a hug (and a haircut). On me voyage these days I seem to enjoy not only the salt water of the sea, but the salt water of me tears. Currently James Blunt seems to be the source of me tears (which is a relief after these past few months that it is a song that makes my eyes misty as supposed to personal experience). Aye, his most recent song "goodbye my lover" is a killer, gar. Where can I find a bottle o' rum?
Pull out the kleenx and read these lyrics:

Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.
So I took what's mine by eternal right.
Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer but when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.
I've watched you sleeping for a while.
I'd be the father of your child.
I'd spend a lifetime with you.
I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I'm asleep.
And I will bear my soul in time,
When I'm kneeling at your feet.
Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow.
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow.

We set sail!

Arrr, let's begin me maties! This blog is the start of an adventure in the life of me...Pirate Girl. Come and join the adventure. I will be posting things that I enjoy. Thanks to A.L.H for the idea.

...Let me start by introducing my first mates. I am lucky in that I have two. I have a little first mate and a big first mate. Although one of them should have been hung for mutiny, for some reason, I couldn't imagine going on my voyage without either one, and therefore peace and order was restored to "the ship", and we have continued to set sail together.

The little first mate is so much fun to be around. He is discovering everything for the first time, from his own hands to food to songs to even "the seas". It is grand to be on this voyage with someone who is discovering the world for the first time.

The big first mate is also a lot of fun to be around, although he can be a crab, he truly is a good first mate. He is kind and thoughtful and listens to my fears when I think the ship is sinking.

So...welcome aboard.
