Daycare sucks....a rant by pirategirl

Daycare sucks. I mean, the little first mate was just fine, but I hate daycare. There was a little boy who kept hitting my little first mate, and then this boy would bully (or attack) this other little boy. Luckily the bully will be leaving the daycare for good at the end of this week and will never again be in my little first mate's class.

My little first mate had a great time playing and exploring, but I realized how little time I will have with him, and I hope he doesn't lose that magic spark that makes him - him.

They say that daycare is harder on the parents that it is on the kid, and I only hope that is true, because I'm really sad.

I love Chinese Food

Ahoy maties - I'm sorry it has been so long since the last post. The little first mate and the big first mate are keeping me busy.

I love Chinese food - not only does it taste good, but I usually get to eat it when I'm with friends or family. Last night's Chinese food was no exception. A few of my favorite mates came aboard last night and it was so lovely to see them.

I really love my friends.

The power of t.v

"Hey the t.v is on - Mommy never puts the t.v on when I'm awake".

"Oooooooh, it looks like a good show!"

"Hello t.v".

The Little First Mate is One!

I can't believe that my little first mate is a whole year old already. He has a wonderful spirit and I love him so much. I hope that he always keeps his sense of humour and love about him.

On his birthday, the big first mate and I took him to IKEA (the little first mate loves the IKEA catalogue).

Then we took the little first mate to a water park (only for about 10 minutes - it was a really hot day).

The Little First Mate had a great day, and so did we.

It really hit me today- for some reason I hadn't noticed how ill my father-in-law is, until today. I mean, I always knew he was sick, but it just really sunk in today how ill he is. Today we were at his house and I sat with him while the big first mate fed the little first mate. I watched as my father-in-law struggled for air while he slept. He would wake up for a moment or two, I'd say "hello" or ask if he wanted something to drink, or I'd just hold his hand, and he would just fall asleep again.

It just really hit me today how this man, who a year ago was making jokes about his brain tumor and who was determined to beat it, is now barely able to speak and spends most of his life in and out of consciousness. I hope that he doesn't understand what is happening to him because it would be so hard lying in a bed trying to tell your family what you want or need and not having the strength to do so.

I know this sounds horrible, but I hope this is near the end of his days, I just can't imagine what he's going through, and I see how hard it is on my mother-in-law and I pray that it will be over soon. I don't want him to die - but it just seems like there is so much suffering in that apartment - you can feel it in the air when you walk in. That house deserves some peace.

I am humbled by life right now.

Ride 'em inchworm

The little first mate is currently crawling around the room with his inchworm on his back...how he did that, I have no idea.
Its hard to believe this little dude will be one soon.
